What is the EB-2 Visa?
An EB-2 visa is an employment-based visa that allows foreign nationals with advanced degrees or exceptional abilities to work and live permanently in the United States. It is part of the second preference category for employment-based immigration.
Eligibility for an EB-2 Visa
To qualify for an EB-2 visa, you must meet the following requirements:
Advanced degree
Have an advanced degree or its equivalent in the field you want to work in
Exceptional ability
Demonstrate exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business
Job offer
Have a valid job offer in the field where you have an advanced degree or exceptional ability
Labor certification
Get an approved labor certification from the Department of Labor
National interest
Demonstrate that granting you an EB2 visa is in the national interest of the United States
You can demonstrate exceptional ability by meeting at least three of the following requirements:
Have a license to practice your profession
Be a member of a professional association in your field
Have an official academic record that shows your exceptional ability
Have proof of your significant contribution to your industry
Have a salary that’s adequate for your position and role
If you qualify for an EB-2 visa, you'll be granted lawful permanent residency in the United States.
